Overview
Wiener Associates was founded in 1989 as a full-service, bipartisan, governmental affairs law firm. With more than seven decades of experience in government, politics, and public advocacy, we have grown to an aggressive mid-sized firm representing more than 30 diverse clients. Our lobbying activities run the gamut of issues discussed in local, state and federal government including: economic development, education, health, human services, transportation, housing, telecommunications and taxation.

Prioritizing Your Needs
We believe that it is important for each of our clients to have a clear, written, and mutually agreed upon statement of the governmental objectives the client wants to accomplish. One of our first tasks is to meet with our clients and develop a set of written governmental affairs priorities. This guides our activities and alerts our entire staff to issues which we need to pay primary attention to for our clients.

If It Happens In Lansing, We Are There
Wiener Associates monitors legislative hearings and sessions, tracks legislation and provides immediate feedback to our clients. While our firm utilizes state-of-the-art electronic and subscription tracking services, we find that there is no substitute for being there. Our lobbyists are involved in a number of work groups that develop legislation before it is introduced. We also attend all of the committee meetings that may be relevant to our clients and monitor each legislative session in full.

Providing Access To Decision Makers
Our firm is active in hands-on lobbying for and with our clients. This includes one-on-one meetings with members of the Executive Branch, Legislators, and staff. This may also include testifying before committees or working with our clients to develop testimony for presentation. We maintain access with key decision makers on your behalf.

Customized Representation
Wiener Associates also provides periodic detailed reporting to our clients. We do not take a one-size fits all approach to this. Our staff is experienced at presenting before boards and at public meetings. We provide detailed written reports on a schedule desired by the client and also accommodate telephone, fax, or email briefings for single or multiple parties. We tailor our approach to meet the needs of our clients.

Knowledge. Experience. Access.
While lobbyists are best known as process facilitators, we try to absorb the substance of our clients’ issues so that we can talk knowledgeably with decision makers in the absence of our clients when needed. We have found, since term limits have been put in place, that substantive knowledge plays a greater role with the newer members than it did in the past. Therefore, our firm provides both substantive knowledge and access.
